Anauroch, or The Great Sand Sea, is a magical desert located in northern Faerûn. It holds the remnants of a once-powerful Netherese Empire. It is relentlessly encroaches border nations, consuming them with its sand. A few nomadic tribes roam the desert.
The Chultan Peninsula is the dominant area of southwest Faerûn, with an undeserved reputation of being a backward place with a lack of civilization and homing savages. It has several large cities with stable governments, all containing very vibrant and vast cultures. The Mhair Jungles mark the east end of the peninsula.
Known as the Forest Country and Land of the Purple Dragon, Cormyr is an independent nation of interior Faerûn. It is historically one of the most prosperous nations.
A region of northern Faerûn filled with dense forests and rolling farmlands. It is comprised of loosely organized groups, called dales, which are located around Cormanthor Forest, west of the Sea of Fallen Stars.
Known as the Endless Wastes or as Taan by its natives, it is part of territory of the mighty Imaskar Empire. It is populated by horsemen tribes, such as the Tuigans.
A small group of islands that are in the far southeast of Kara-Tur. It includes the largest island of Bawa, the island chain of Bertan, the small islands of Panjardu, Rukun, and Si'rat. It is home to the Bavanese, Bertanese, and Bawani people.
It is a large, titular sea that is connected to the Sea of Fallen Stars. The shoreline is a wild frontier that is home to several city states dominated by despots. There is no central capital. The Moonsea is not necessarily considered a safe place and as such, its settlers were driven and independent.
The North, known as Northwest Faerûn or the Savage North, is a region filled with untamed wilderness, ravaged by winter climate, and home to many hardy and savage beasts. It is home to the two greatest known cities, Neverwinter, known as the Jewel of the North, and Waterdeep, the City of Splendors.
This is a collective term referring to empires of Chessenta, Mulhorand, and Unther because of the fact that their history traces all the way back before the Time of Troubles; thousands of years before, precisely.
A young country of considerable wealth and governed by merchants, Sembia is located on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Fallen Stars. They are under the control of the Netherese Empire, with only Urmlaspyr and Daerlun maintaining their independence.

A border region between northeastern Faerûn and eastern Faerûn. Its boundaries are defined by the Easting Reach, Sunrise Mountains, Wizards' Reach, and Icerim Mountains, all the way to the Great Glacier.
The Underdark is a vast network of underground caverns and tunnels that are located underneath Abeir-Toril. It is home to a host of evil beings that have been driven into its depths during the Age of Demons.
The Vast is a region in north Faerûn and it rests along the northern coast of the Sea of Fallen Stars. The Dragon Reach and River Lis are in the west, the Earthspur Mountains, Gray Forest, and Impiltur to the east. The Moonsea and Damara is to the north of the Vast. It lays on both sides of the Earthfast Mountain that run through it.
It is named after a body of water, called the Vilhon Reach, which is part of the Sea of Fallen Stars. Vilhon Reach was established as an essential trade center between cities of the southern bodies of water.
A region that is located in the western part of Faerûn; it stretches from the Sword Coast water's edge of the Sea of Swords to the Storm Horn Mountains. It extends north into the Lizard Marsh of Delimbiyr Vale and as far south as the Lands of Intrigue.
